You don't have to be falling apart
to talk to someone.

This page is for young adults. The rest of the site is mostly written for parents and doctors - fair warning, it's a bit more formal.

Questions you might be asking.

"What if I don't know what to say?"

Most people don't, the first time. We can talk about whatever - the room, your week, why this is weird, a TV show. It builds from there.

"Will my parents find out everything?"

No. What you say is yours. We agree from session one what gets shared and what doesn't - the only exception is if you or someone else isn't safe.

"Is it like in films? A couch and ‘how does that make you feel’?"

No couch. No clipboard. Sometimes we walk. Sometimes there's a dog. It's just a real conversation with someone whose job is to actually listen.

"What if I think therapy is kind of cringe?"

Honestly, fair. A lot of it has been over-marketed. You're allowed to be sceptical - that's actually a good starting position.

"Can we do it online?"

Yes. Lots of clients do video sessions from their room or wherever. Same work, different location.

"How much does it cost?"

Sessions are normally £100. If money is tight, ask - there are sometimes lower-cost spots. The first 15-min call is free.

Alexander Lajer

Who is Alex?

I'm a therapist. I work mostly with people roughly your age. I don't think being a young adult is a small thing - most of what shapes a life happens in this window.

I'm not here to fix you. I'm here to think alongside you, and to give a few honest, non-parent perspectives on whatever's loud in your head.

I came in convinced I was wasting time. By session four I was looking forward to it. That's all I have.
